Can an employee fired during a probationary period successfully file an appeal with the MSPB if she is fired as a result of information uncovered during a background check? The MSPB said "no" and this case involving an IRS employee went to federal court.

Air Traffic Controller, To Whistleblower, to EEO Complainant
A whistleblower in the FAA, who was given an award by the Office of Special Counsel, has filed an $800,000 claim against the agency for discrimination. She is charging the agency with refusing to promote her because of her complaints.

The Defense Department is blocking access to many popular Internet sites from department-owned computers. The sites are: youtube.com, pandora.com, photobucket.com, myspace.com, live365.com, hi5.com, metacafe.com, mtv.com, ifilm.com, blackplanet.com, stupidvideos.com and filecabi.com.
